PALLETIZING AND PACKAGING LINES OPERATE CONTINUOUSLY

One of the important arguments for robotizing a manufacturing plant is continuous work, namely non-stop 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Such an operation mode is automated ‒ the robots and the machinery perform repeatable activities with a minimal involvement of people whose role is limited down to supervising the process and controlling the quality of the products. At the implementation of these tasks, the employees are supported by systems which visualize the line's operation. In numerous cases, the quality and the process are also controlled and monitored automatically by means of sensors and visual systems provided with the robots and devices. If an error is detected, the defective product is rejected, and in extreme situations the whole production process will be automatically suspended.

One pre-condition for effective operation in the continuous mode is a precise synchronization of particular production stages with the previous and subsequent stages. As a result, the basic assumptions associated with robotization may be fulfilled, such as:

  • minimized stoppages
  • maximized efficiency
  • minimized manufacturing errors
  • obtaining high quality products

This is particularly important in the case of a large scale production, where each second of a standstill or each error in the production could mean tremendous losses.
