Wikpol supports participants in the Emerging Innovators competition organized by the Polytechnic Network Via Carpatia.*
Who is the Emerging Innovators competition intended for?
The competition is primarily aimed at high school students, involving three parties:
- Industrial companies that propose competition tasks and review concepts created by participants,
- Students who tackle competition challenges and prepare solutions for chosen issues,
- A judging panel that evaluates the intellectual value of the tasks completed by participants.
What is the main idea of the competition?
The competition aims to promote engineering and technical sciences among high school students, fostering an innovative approach to technical topics within this age group.
Companies propose specific technical, functional, or technological challenges as topics, and students present solutions addressing these challenges. One of the evaluation criteria for the competition entries is the feasibility and applicability of solutions in companies.
Wikpol and its Participants
The competition task proposed by Wikpol, “A Vision System for Verifying Package Positioning in a Robotic Palletizing Line,” was selected by students from the Tadeusz Kościuszko Transport and Communication School Complex in Lublin. The group ultimately took second place in the Lublin segment of the competition. We heartily congratulate the winners.

The competition results were announced during the “Innovation Open Day” gala, which was also an opportunity to present potential cooperation between business and academia. During discussions, representatives of Lublin companies, including Wikpol President Zbigniew Kominek, shared their expectations regarding the engineering skills of future employees and potential areas of collaboration with Lublin University of Technology.
Meanwhile, researchers from Lublin University of Technology presented their latest inventions and recent commercialization successes.

*The Via Carpatia network is formed by three universities of technology: Białystok, Lublin, and Rzeszów.
”Via Carpatia is an initiative aimed at creating a space that connects and enables collaboration among students, university students, and researchers. This idea was inspired by the ancient route through Europe and Asia, known as Via Carpatia. The strategic goal is to establish a sustainable, safe, and efficient connection of technical universities’ potential to stimulate regional cooperation and strengthen scientific centers in the region.”
